I get paid 16.75/hr at a convenience store. I work 8 hours a day overnight, so a differential of 1.5/hr so 18.25/hr. So, I make $146 a day. Bear in mind people, no one is forcing any of these students to be there. What made them decide to go to university, what made them go to an elective which spoke about the realities of Capitalism? Only they themselves. I never went to university, i went to Tech, i then went to a trade school and am in a business doing irrigation and plumbing. I am not in debt, i am a happy man who didnt do any university training. I studied what i knew i would need, and i worked in between times to cover my costs of studying which wasnt a lot. Therefore, before you criticise this lecturer remember these students were not forced there by him, they were there because they chose to waste $40k a year learning something they could never turn into a profit so as to pay it back their debts. Thats how the system works. And these students instead of figuring a better way, just blindly follow the people who went before with no thought as to what they wanted to do. This is the kind of information you could learn for free on UA-cam shorts for instance. That's not getting ripped off. That's providing value to the employer that created the job to begin with. If your labor produces more then you make more. No business is going to be in business to break even. Maintaining equilibrium does not produce profit or the ability to grow and create more jobs.

That’s assuming the $20 output you put in actually nets your employer anything at all. In a perfect world every company is successful and efficient, but this isn’t a perfect world. The reason the employer gets a cut is because the employer takes the risk. If you worked that hour, you get paid for that hour. If the employer makes $0 for that time, you still get paid, and he loses money. That risk deserves a cut of the profit. Furthermore the employer is directing your labor. Without the employer your labor is worth zero, unless of course you start your own company. Such a myopic view.

McDonald's locations make way more than $15 an hour that they're paying you trust me.
